Keep Your Word. However…

dreamstime_m_157369199

Recently I posted a blog about the importance of keeping your word. I believe that this is something we need to do if we want people to trust us. However, I realize there are times when we cannot.

Emergencies, injuries, illnesses happen. Situations change. Sometimes, no matter how much we might want to keep our promises, we can’t. And sometimes people cannot keep their promises to us. That’s part of life.

Before you break your word, though, I think it is important to ask yourself if it truly is an emergency or is it merely inconvenient. If it’s merely inconvenient to keep your word, then go for the long-term gain and keep your word.
