I know a woman who said she felt “lost” and that she needed to find herself. She tried to find herself in an affair, in a new house, in a new job. She looked externally; she looked outside of herself. It didn’t work. She’s still “lost.”
I don’t think any of us can find ourselves by looking externally. I think we need to look internally. We need to shine a light in all the dark, dusty corners of our hearts and minds and accept what we find. We need to recognize all the light and beauty that is within us as well. That’s where we are after all, inside of ourselves, not outside.
